UC Leuven-Limburg collects personal data based on its threefold mission: education, research and service. UC Leuven-Limburg considers the protection of personal privacy important and wants to do its best to comply with the rules that guarantee a safe, controlled and confidential use of this website. Below we explain which personal data we collect, why we do this, how long we keep them, what your privacy rights are and how you can exercise them.
The website for this project is designed to inform users about the project and its results, to give users access to the developed courses, to inform users about upcoming and past training events and to collect research-related data on the topics.
The person responsible for processing personal data is:
VZW UC Limburg, with registered office at Agoralaan, Gebouw B, bus 1, 3590 Diepenbeek, company number 0417.195.515 and VAT number BE 0417.195.515 RPR (register of legal persons): Hasselt, https://www.ucll.be/. But specifically for this project: https://www.e-skillsproject.eu/, and edict@ucll.be.
UC Leuven-Limburg, abbreviated UCLL, is the brand name under which the non-profit-making organisation UC Leuven and the non-profit-making organisation UC Limburg operate as a joint venture of two non-profit organisations that are integrated and operate as a whole.
Data from website users
We process the following personal data of website users: identification data (e.g. name, e-mail address, user name, password, etc.) and information about their learning process in the courses on the website. We also use cookies. You can read more about this in our cookie policy.
Data of persons participating in practice-based research
Personal data in the context of research can take very different forms. It can be information collected directly from subjects (e.g. their opinions, etc.) or information obtained from other sources (e.g. information available to the government). These data are collected, managed and updated by the researchers.
The legal basis for processing our research data is contractual obligation (cookies to enable use of website) or consent (for example, when you as an interested website visitor agree to have your email address used to receive our newsletters). In some cases, the legal basis lies in a legal obligation (mandatory reporting by the university college to the government) or in the public interest (research that fits in with the priority policy of the government or that is carried out to optimise the quality of certain educational programmes).
Data from website users
We use information about website users to send you our newsletter or to enable you to use our website. You can find more information about the latter in our cookie policy.
Research data
Researchers collect, analyse and manage personal data that are necessary for practice-based scientific research. This data is kept for as long as is necessary for the research. Depending on the nature of the research, this retention period can be up to 20 years.
The number of UC Leuven-Limburg staff who have access to personal data is limited. Employees of UC Leuven-Limburg only have access to personal data where they need this information to properly perform their task.
In addition, UC Leuven-Limburg has appointed a Data Protection Officer who advises us on the privacy rules and checks whether UC Leuven-Limburg complies with the privacy rules.
We use technical measures to protect the personal data against unauthorised access, unauthorised use, loss or theft such as a strong password, firewalls, antivirus, back-up, etc.
For practice-based scientific research, the researchers call upon the KU Leuven ethics committees. These committees perform a risk analysis before starting the research. Depending on the results of this risk analysis, the researcher ensures appropriate security measures.
